These films really are eye-opening and are the reasons we've become and remain vegan today. If you haven't seen them, you need to check them out!
Documentaries
I have always loved to learn. I will always seek out new ideas and information to enrich my life and the lives of others around me. Part of that learning involves documentaries. Below are some of the documentaries that changed my views about how I was choosing to not only nourish my body but live in harmony with planet Earth and of course all of the Earthlings that live upon it.
Take a minute or two to watch the trailers to some of these documentaries and of course, do your own research. Vegan Vacations recommends that every find a balance of what works for them based on your own health needs and of course lifestyle choices. These films are simply examples of some of the information that is coming to light in this new century as we grow and expand our understanding of what it means to be alive.
Not everyone has had a chance to watch these, so feel free to share this list with those in your life. It may just change their feelings on their food and how we treat other species of creatures.

Food Inc.
It all probably started when Food Inc. came into my life. This was really the first film that really opened my eyes to the food industry, it's business practices and the effect my choices were made on me and the environment.

Earthlings
This one is a really tough, but necessary watch for everyone. Earthlings examine how we as human beings treat our fellow earthlings – namely, animals.
It uses footage shot guerilla-style in pet stores, slaughterhouses and more, and Shaun Monson shows us exactly how animals are used and abused for profit. This shocking animal documentary is narrated by Joaquin Phoenix and is not a new one but it still has the same effect on us as the first time we watched it.

Cowspiracy
I put off watching this film for a while because I made the assumption it was going to be a very graphic depiction of what happens to cows in the beef manufacturing process. When I finally did sit down to watch it, I couldn't have been more wrong. It does include some very graphic details about what happens to a cow during its life at the hands of humankind, but it is so much more than that. I encourage you to really open yourself up to the powerful knowledge contained within Cowspiracy.

What The Health
This is the second film by director, Kip Anderson (after Cowspiracy) that spends most of its time looking at the human health effects of an animal product-heavy diet and shows how a vegan diet has undiscovered health benefits as well as how there have been more than a few coverups to keep under wraps the role meat is really having in damaging our lives and well-being. Like other films on our list, this one really hits home about how much healthy our lives can really be. Check it out.

I think the importance of this film is that is can resonate so deeply with many, many people in today's fast-paced urban world. When a man living on heaps of pills just to try and control a plethora of health issues finally reaches his limit, he embarks on a new adventure into a world that changed his life 180 degrees.

Forks Over Knives
What if all disease was as a result of the things you put in your body? What if a collection of health professionals and food scientists illustrated important studies that outlined how what you consume has a direct and huge impact on the quality of your life? Watch this.

PlantPure Nation
This documentary shows us just what an uphill battle we have when it comes to getting our governments to show the public what's really going on. A study to find out and publish the health effects of a plant-based diet is introduced as a "pilot project" to the Kentucky Legislature (which ends up being rejected), but the team decides to go ahead with a small group of participants and their results are unbelievable. Everyone needs to know the truth so they can decide for themselves what is best.

The Game Changers
This is probably the most talked-about documentary pertaining to veganism of recent history and there is no doubt why when you see the size of the people interviewed and the fact they have realized that what they have been told about protein and their diets have all been lies. Learn about how athletes are proving every day that they can and are some of the most healthy and well-performing athletes in the world.

Bonus - Ed Winters “You Will Never Look at Your Life in the Same Way Again”
This one is NOT a documentary but a video of a lecture given by Earthling Ed that is our opinion is one not to be missed either. Ed is the often seen and heard and is always the level-headed one giving the absolutely best replies to every question and he usually leaves omnivores speechless and without retort because he's so succinct and direct.

Vegan Vacations will continue to share other documentaries & other resources as we discover them that we feel include important ideas, research, concepts and add to the voice of the whole food plant-based community all over the world.
It's so important we share what we learn with others so they can begin their vegan journey as well.
