Earlier this month, Sandals resorts began working its way back to “normal” as they launched their phased re-opening plan, post-quarantine with the opening of their Grande Antigua resort on June 6th and just last week by re-opening their Sandals Montego Bay resort in Jamaica on June 16th.
TravelPulse News spoke with Sandals resort Founder Gordon Stewart, who said “We have been highly anticipating this moment and have spent this time strengthening every element of our health and safety protocols with our guests in mind. We are pleased to report that The Ministries of Health and Tourism have certified that we have successfully completed the stringent registration and inspection protocols with flying colours.”
“We are eager to provide that much-needed escape for travellers who have been cooped up and are now seeking a place to relax that gives them the privacy, reassurance and the space they’re looking for,” Stewart continued. “At Sandals, we include everything but worries, so guests can leave those behind and take this time to recharge with the ones they love. That’s our promise.”

This phased re-opening plan is only one of the elements the team at Sandals have been working on since we have been in lockdown and dealing with this pandemic. They also created new health and safety protocols, called their Platinum Protocols of Cleanliness which addresses every single touchpoint a guest has and how to ensure proper social distancing while giving guests the experience of a lifetime.

It's going to be interesting to see how the world of travel shapes up in the coming months and years but I am very happy that health and safety are back to priority #1. We have never been here before, so I am sure we will have to adjust as we move forward but it is great to see brands like Sandals taking that first step and showing the world it can be done. I do know that many people are still cautious about travelling right now and that's ok too, we should take our time getting back into the swing of Travel things.
Sandals has always been the trailblazer in many aspects of their business; they currently offer plant-based items at many of their restaurants and they were the first to introduce their Culinary Concierge, which helps guests navigate the dining options available to them at each restaurant and work to create an amazing food experience while on vacation, even for vegans.
Only you can decide when is the right time to get back to travelling and what your risk threshold is. But know, there are many organizations out there right now creating new ways to ensure your health and safety is protected and they are going to be ready for your visit really soon.
