Happy Halloween everyone!
We couldn't just let the holiday pass by without sharing some Hauntingly Great Hotel Stories we have heard from around the world with you all. From ghost dogs nipping at your ankles, figures standing over you as you sleep, or Marilyn Monroe staring back at you in the mirror. Who doesn’t love a good ghost story?!
Now before we start, we wanted to share with you our "Ghost Rating" system that goes from 1 ghost all the way up to 5 ghosts. Will you be able to handle them all? Keep scrolling to find out.
#1 The Bowery Hotel, New York, USA

Located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, this 5-star gothic delight with outstanding service is a real favourite of visitors to the city.
There have been many reports of guests seeing poltergeists in the elevators of the hotel, and for some spooky reason the elevators go up and down every night at 1am by themselves.

The iconic Hollywood Roosevelt is intertwined with the golden era of Hollywood. Opened in 1927 and was the location for the very first Academy Awards in 1929.
Marilyn Monroe lived at the hotel for 2 years and many guests have reported seeing her in a long mirror in Suite 1200.
Another ghost of an actor is said to walk the halls; Montgomery Clift's voice echoes throughout his old Suite 928 and the thermostat and the radio keep changing without explanation.
#3 Bourbon Orleans, New Orleans, USA

The Bourbon Orleans started life as Theatre and Ballroom in 1819 but has the perfect mix of old charm and modern-day luxury sitting in the heart of French Quarter.
The building has such a rich history, including being a convent and an orphanage. So as expected, there are many stories of apparitions. Guests have been seeing a young girl rolling a ball down the hallway and chasing after it before disappearing, a ghost of dancer in the ballroom and a soldier who patrols the floors between 3-6 floors.

The stunning hotel, located in Banff National Park, was built over 130 years ago.
Not only does it look like it belongs in a Halloween movie, but it also has the stories to match.
There have been several ghost sightings of a ghost bride dancing in the Cascade Ballroom, with her bridal gown on fire.
But the most frequent-sighted ghost is that of a long-serving Scottish bellman, Sam Macauley, who still assists guests during their stay, even though he died over 30 years ago.

For nearly 200 years, The Shelbourne has been Ireland's most distinguished address. The world-renowned hotel has drawn infamous guests such as Charlie Chaplin, Greta Garbo, Laurel and Hardy, James Cagney, Clark Gable, John Wayne, Rita Hayworth, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Robert Redford, and Grace Kelly.
There have been many different reports of paranormal activity on the 6th floor of the hotel, with taps turning on by themselves and a young girl called Mary Masters, appearing out of nowhere. The actress Lily Collins stayed at the hotel in 2013 and woke when she heard a young girl giggle next to her bed. Reports suggest this is the ghost of a 7-year-old Mary Master who died in 1846 at the hotel.

The 13th century Arab fortress hotel, sitting on the Santa Catalina Hill overlooking the spectacular Andalusian landscape.
A story of a guest staying in Room 22, who was awakened by the sound of a woman crying and sudden knocking at the door lead a team of paranormal investigators to check the room out. They believe it to be the ghost of a young woman who had died at the fortress from heartbreak, hundreds of years ago.

The beautiful 15-century Chateau de Marcay, located to the Loire Valley, looks like a castle straight out of a fairy tale.
The legend goes that one of the past Ladies of the Chateau was a werewolf and after she transformed one night a local farmer shot and killed her. Guests and staff have spotted a ghostly woman dressed in white roaming the grounds at night.
#8 - The Langham Hotel, London, United Kingdom

Dating back to 1865, the stylish London hotel has received distinguished guests such as Oscar Wilde, George Orwell and Mark Twain.
There are stories of a Victorian gentleman who appears every October (just in time for Halloween!), a German Prince, and Napolean III – have all been seen roaming the halls of the hotel.
Room 333, is supposedly where most ghosts occupy, so you may want to request a different room upon check-in.

Airth Castle was built over 700 years ago and is truly steeped in history, having once owned by the family of Robert the Bruce.
Possibly the most famous haunted manors in Scotland, there are tales of a ghostly dog that nips at your ankles, a 17th-century housekeeper screaming as she roams the castle in search of two children she lost.
If that isn’t enough for you, within the grounds is a 12th-century graveyard!

This can colonial boutique 30-bedroom hotel, situated in Sydney’s Circular Quay, was once a hospital that looked after smallpox and bubonic plague patients.
There are many reports of guests waking up to ghosts watching them sleep in Room 8.
There are also sightings of ghost Sailors walking around the corridors at night.

This centrally located hotel in the heart of Bangkok, has been a popular choice for travellers since it was built in 1967.
There have been numerous guests reporting to have woken up to see a ghostly figure sitting in their room watching them and then disappearing. Guests have also said they felt they were touched while sleeping and hearing screams coming from empty rooms.
The spookiest story is from a guest that woke up suddenly, as it felt like someone invisible had just lay down next to her in bed.

With a mammoth 7,351 bedrooms, the Resorts World Genting First World Hotel holds the Guinness World Record as the largest hotel in the world (by number of rooms).
Guests at the hotel say they have heard eerie sounds in the middle of the night, with no explanation of where they come from.
Ghostly figures of restless spirits have also been seen walking around the hotel.

This very elegant 4-star hotel is one of Canberra’s most historic. With its stunning art-deco style, perfect location near Parliament House and pretty terrace gardens, it has been a firm favourite of discerning travellers and diplomats since it opened in 1926.
Unlike many of the hotels on our list, the ghost that is said to haunt Hotel Kurrajong is one you wouldn’t mind meeting, former Prime Ministers Ben Chifley. Who is actually considered the best-ever Prime Minister Australia ever had. Guests have seen a grey-suited ghost appear, not scaring anyone, just appearing from time to time.
