Vegan Resorts-where to stay

Planning A Vegan Vacation Is Harder Than You Think!

Where's the vegan resort list? Actually, it doesn't exist. (and that's a good thing!)

Lately, we’ve been receiving a lot of requests to send out lists of vegan & vegan-friendly resorts that can be used to help vacationers plan their next trip and while we wish that there was such a list in existence, the reality is that it’s not that simple when planning a trip, let alone planning a trip for someone who is plant-based.

Travel is unique to each person travelling and specific needs require specific resorts & destinations. There are no one-size-fits-all and that is especially true for vegans because of the many different types of vegan travellers, the motivations that dictate how they’d like to travel as well as the ever-present budget considerations.

Today, there are very few Truly Vegan experiences available and while we continue to find more and add them to our database, in many cases it’s more likely that you’ll find yourself at a resort or hotel that provides accommodations to vegan travellers rather than one that is 100% vegan. We are working to show our suppliers just how important our market segment is but with current COVID-19 restrictions we suspect it will take bit longer to get more of these Truly Vegan options up and running, so that’s where our expertise will come in.

Currently, some resorts provide vegan options directly on their menus, others provide access to a chef who will help craft special meals for you while others still have specific venues on-site that can easily cater to vegan and vegetarian guests too. The level of vegan accommodation is usually reflected in the prices at each resort, but many of you would be pleased to know that quite a few resorts & hotels at every budget level offer accommodations to their plant-based guests.

It really depends on what you hope to achieve and experience while you are travelling when trying to pick the right spot for you. Do you want to lay on a beach and veg-out or would you be happiest getting active and trying various on and off-land sports & activities? Does the history and architecture of a destination appeal to you or do you prefer the idea of exploring your destination and finding vegan spots off the beaten path? There are a ton of different things to consider before booking your next vacations and it’s why we are here at Vegan Vacations. We have spent the last few years researching and finding out all the who, what, when, where and how’s of many resorts, hotels and experiences so we can guide our clients to the right one, once we know more about what they are looking for in their next trip.

Vegan Resorts-Sandals

One stand out brand for our clients to consider has always been Sandals Resorts International, which owns the Sandals, Beaches and Grand Pineapple Beach Resort brands. Their Sandals and Beaches resorts in particular offer a unique service called a “Culinary Concierge” where guests can review menus across their selected resort and craft their own culinary experience based on their particular dietary needs ensuring they get to enjoy the same experience as other guests without compromising their morals or the overall experience by having to explain at every meal their particular requirements.

Sandals resorts, which offers a luxury couples-only experience, has built on this concept by further introducing regular vegan & plant-based options on menus across their brand in 2020 with a planned expansion as we get back into travelling more through 2021 (fingers crossed). This means if you don’t want to meet with their Culinary Concierge you’ll be able to know that there will be plant-based options available no matter where you go at the resort.
